Its been a while....2 fun weeks in South Carolina

I didn't realize it had been so long. I've been all over the place over the last few weeks, and blogging hasn't been at the forefront of my mind.

In June, Adam and I went to South Carolina for a week to spend some time with Matt and Jamie. When we got there, we went to a couple's shower for them at the lake. It was definitely a fun shower.... but a little bit out of control. Lets say that some of the women hosting it have little shame and gave some pretty scandalous gifts. For some it was amusing; for the rest of us it was awkward and slightly mortifying as both of their parents (keeping in mind that his dad is the pastor at their church) and siblings were there. They did rack up some sweet non-scandalous gifts too though.

We had an amazing time at the lake with them and are really appreciative for all of the hospitality and generosity that we received while we were in Columbia. Here are some pictures from our time there....

Who doesn't love  a bridal shower where you get to do this??

We had a great time tubing- Kendra was clearly having a blast :)

The guys were much more out of control..... The big guys sent scrawny and scrawnier on the outsides flying. I think the aftermath of this was Mark's drawstring busting out of his shorts.

Paul plays a little dirty on the tube.... He kept telling Adam, "This is so great! I'm so glad you're here" while trying to throw him and everyone else off the tube. Such a fun guy :) Reminded me of old times on the lake with the crew doing lots of this....

Good times, good times circa 2003-ish?

The happy couple!

The Felitz's were so gracious and let us all come back the next day for more fun! I honestly haven't been on the water in 2 years. I can't believe I'm actually admitting that as I grew up spending most of my time on the lake. I'm glad we got to go out again. It'll be a while before i have the chance to again :(

Definitely felt a little rusty and my body felt about 20 years older than it did when I was 18. I'm willing to accept that though.

After our time with Matt & Jamie, we went sailing with my dad on his boat in Dataw Island for a few days... which was of course wonderful!

Then Adam headed to Orlando for a few weeks to take 2 seminary classes, and I met up with my mom for some MUCH needed R&R at Isle of Palms....

Where I spent most of my time here....

Doing lots of this.....

.... as well as a lot of time just thinking, reflecting, and thanking the BG for how faithful He has been in my life, especially over the last several months. I so desperately needed this time to be removed from EVERYTHING that distracts me from these things and keeps me from taking care of myself. Let me clarify... the things that I ALLOW to distract me and use as excuses as to why I haven't been able to take care of myself like I want to. Such a sweet blessing from Him. He knew exactly what I needed at just the right time.

Jamie came down from Columbia & spent a few days in the sun with us.

Thanks for taking me mom :)

I returned back to Nashville with mom refreshed & reenergized. Such a blessing.

To have 2 weeks with just my mom before I leave for at least a year was perfect. We haven't spent that long together in I don't know how long. So nice. These 3 weeks were amazing. Thank you Lord for giving me such sweet time with people who are so special to me.

Mom headed back to East TN & Adam came home. We quickly jumped back into the swing of things... raising support and getting ready to leave! Now it's another 3 weeks later and I feel like I can't keep up with my own life, but honestly I'm quite okay with that. It's not mine to keep up with anyway; someone else has that taken care of.

Joyfully refreshed,
