Yarn Wreath with Winter Attachment

Okay I promise I'm back on the blogging bandwagon.

A couple of weeks ago I made a winter attachment for my "interchangeable attachment" wreath- my collection is growing with the Spring & Fall attachments. 

In case you missed those 2, I made this yarn wreath last year with snaps for interchangeable attachments with each season. 

I wanted to make a winter one instead of Christmas so I could just use it until it's time for the spring one to go back on, so I went with blues and grays.  

For this one, I went with a Peacock theme.  

To make the "feathers" I cut 3 pieces of felt for each one. I pinched the tips together at the end, stitched through all 6 pieces, and tied each one off. Then I started arranging them on white felt with the largest ones on the bottom, hot gluing them on. 

I hot glued the snaps on the back {the other side was already on the wreath}

....and there you have it. 

I added four wooden beads to bring it to a point. 

It might be my favorite thus far. 

Okay seriously, more Christmas decor coming!

Yarn Wreath with Fall Attachment

In the spring I made this wreath with a Spring attachment, with the plan that I could change the attachment with each season. I live overseas, and thought it would be more efficient to make one wreath with different attachments for different seasons than to make several different ones. 

With September almost over, I decided last weekend that it was time to make an attachment for the fall and this is what I came up with:

I really like it. 

This is what the wreath looks like without the attachment- 2 clear snaps that I sewed onto the wreath through the yarn. 

Here is the attachment by itself:

And this is the back with the snaps attached with hot glue:

I made 4 different types of felt flowers- these are my 3 favorite:

And this little guy:

I used a satin brown ribbon I had to hang it with. 

I can't wait to make a winter attachment in a few months!

Yarn Wreath with Interchangeable Attachments

I've loved all of the yarn wreaths floating around out there, and really wanted to make my own. Living over here doesn't make buying things like foam wreaths very easy, so I wanted to be resourceful with what I had. A friend sent me one earlier this year so I decided that I would make a white wreath, and per my best friend's brilliant idea, attach snaps to the wreath to make different attachments. 

Here is the wreath with my first attachment: 

I started out by making felt rosettes and arranging them together.

Then I hot glued them all to a piece of white felt. 

I wanted to add some little leaves with a little bit of dimension. 

It was super easy. 

Just tie a knot, stitch up and down one small stitch on the edge, then across to the middle, stitch up and right back down again, and then do the same one more time on the other end. 

When you pull it all tight, the little leaf puckers together at the bottom. 

Tie it off and....

Voila- a cute little leaf with dimension. 

Then I hot glued the leaves in. 

As I said, I made the wreath to have different attachments. I have these big plastic snaps that I bought at the fabric market. I sewed them onto the wreath by hand. I snapped the other half in...

and put a generous dab of hot glue onto the snap.

Then I just placed the attachment where I wanted it, and held it tightly for a minute for the glue to dry on the attachment. 

It  stays on nice and snug, and comes off with ease. 

Then I just found this fun little color block ribbon and tied it around the wreath. 

Ta-Da! 

I really love it, and am sososo pleased with how it turned out. 

I plan to make more attachments to enjoy all year round!
